Privacy Policy
How the Canadian Centre for Economic Analysis handles personal information on its public website.
Last updated: November 2, 2026. This policy describes the public informational website at www.cancea.ca. Client engagements, authenticated ONEMODEL applications and other services may be governed by separate notices or contracts.
Information we handle
Inquiries. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive the information you choose to share, which may include your name, organization, email address, inquiry category and message details. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help detect automated submissions; Cloudflare processes related verification information.
Technical requests. Website hosting and network services may process IP addresses, browser/device information, pages requested, timestamps and similar information needed to deliver and secure the site.
Web analytics. On the production website, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits, pages viewed, referrals and basic browser information. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or analytics cookies on the public website. The site may still rely on technical information used by hosting and security providers.
Optional AI assistant. If you use the Ask CANCEA assistant, your submitted question and limited recent conversation context are processed through the OpenAI API with retrieved CANCEA material to generate an answer. Do not include sensitive personal or confidential information in public-site assistant questions.
How we use and share information
We use this information to operate and secure the site, respond to inquiries, improve the public website and, where appropriate, discuss potential services. We use service providers including Microsoft Azure for hosting, Microsoft services for communications and contact-form delivery, Cloudflare for web analytics and form bot verification, and OpenAI for the optional site assistant. Service providers may process data outside Canada under applicable laws. We do not sell information provided through the public website for third-party marketing.
Retention and protection
Information is kept as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, applicable record-keeping obligations and legitimate security needs. The public assistant is not designed to retain a server-side conversation history; our API integration disables response storage, although the API provider may maintain limited service and abuse-monitoring records under its terms. We use appropriate organizational and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Access, correction and questions
You can contact us to ask about personal information we hold, request access or correction, or make a privacy complaint. Requests are handled according to applicable privacy law.
